Appointment System Changes

From the 1st August 2022 our appointment system is changing.

We have listened to your concerns about difficulties in pre booking appointments and the telephone queues.

Appointments will now be available to pre book with doctors up to two weeks ahead each day. There will be a combination of telephone and face to face appointments available. Please discuss your needs with reception when you book.

On the day emergency appointments will be booked from 8am. We will no longer be releasing afternoon appointments from midday. These appointments are for urgent problems that cannot wait for the next available routine appointment. Once we are full, we will be directing patients to other services and will only accept emergencies. We have created significant capacity with a GP supported by our nurse prescriber and paramedic team to manage this demand.

The reception team may also offer you a consultation with a local community pharmacy for a small number of minor ailments. This is part of a national scheme to help manage demands on general practice.

We have Saturday appointments with the nurse, health care assistant and doctor available during the summer, whilst the practice is not delivering COVID vaccines. From October, we will also have some evening appointments available. More information to follow.

Until we put the new system in place, we won’t know if we have it right.

Please bear with us whilst we tweak the process
